What is an Amazon repricer?

Definition

Software that changes the price of your Amazon offer automatically, by rules, by schedule, or in response to competitor prices.

A repricer is software that changes the price of your offer on Amazon without manual edits. It follows rules you set: match a competitor, stay a fixed amount below them, switch to a sale price on a given date, or never go below a minimum.

Prices on Amazon belong to offers, so a repricer works with your seller SKU and sends price updates to Amazon through the Selling Partner API.

Why sellers reprice

  • Win or keep the Buy Box when other sellers change their prices.
  • Protect margin by raising the price when competitors run out of stock or go up.
  • Run planned promotions with scheduled price changes for specific dates and times.
  • Save time on products where prices change several times a week.

Main types of repricing

  • Rule-based: fixed rules, such as "stay $0.50 below competitor X" or "match the lowest FBA offer".
  • Algorithmic: the tool decides the price from many signals, often targeting the Buy Box. It's flexible but harder to predict.
  • Scheduled: prices change at set times, which suits sales, holidays, and launches.

Risks and safeguards

Automatic rules can start a race to the bottom when two repricers chase each other. Always set minimum and maximum prices for every SKU. If you resell a brand with MAP, make MAP your minimum. Amazon's pricing policies also apply: a price far above recent levels can lose the Buy Box or be flagged.

AMZTarget Repricer

AMZTarget Repricer has two modes, one active per product:

  • Scheduled price changes set the standard and sale price for given dates and times, in the marketplace's local time. Available from the Starter plan.
  • Competitor tracking follows a chosen competitor ASIN with a fixed delta: lower, higher, or equal to their price, always within your minimum and maximum. Available on Growth and Pro.

Every price change is logged with its time. Changes run during scheduled check passes, not continuously, and the deltas are fixed currency amounts rather than percentages. You connect your seller account through the official Amazon authorization flow; no Seller Central password is ever needed.

FAQ

Is repricing allowed on Amazon?

Yes. Automated repricing through the API is common. Your prices must still follow Amazon's pricing policies.

Will a repricer always win the Buy Box?

No. Price is one factor among several, including delivery speed, stock, and seller performance.

What happens if the competitor goes out of stock?

In AMZTarget, if the competitor listing shows no active price, your price stays where it is.
