How to check keyword indexing
- Choose the marketplace.
- Paste the ASIN or the product link.
- Enter up to five keywords, one per line.
- Click Check indexing. Each keyword is checked against live Amazon search.
What the check does
For every keyword, the checker searches Amazon for the ASIN together with the phrase. If Amazon returns the product, it is indexed for that phrase: the search engine connects the two. This is the same test experienced sellers run by hand, done for several keywords at once and on a consistent setup.
How to read the result
- Indexed. Amazon can show the product for this keyword. Whether it shows it on page one is a separate question; check that with the keyword rank checker.
- Not indexed. Amazon does not connect the product with the phrase. Ranking for it is impossible until that changes.
- Could not check. Amazon did not return a usable page this time. Try again later.
Why a keyword is not indexed
- The phrase is missing from the title, bullet points, description, and backend search terms.
- Someone edited the listing and removed the word.
- The backend search terms field is over its byte limit, so part of it is ignored.
- The listing moved to another category or was suppressed.
Indexing problems often show up right after a listing edit. Listing monitoring keeps a dated history of title and bullet changes, so you can see which edit removed the phrase.
After you fix the listing
Amazon usually re-indexes within a few hours to a few days. Check again the next day before making more changes. When you track the keyword, AMZTarget shows the difference between "Not in search index" (no results for the phrase at all) and a product that simply isn't on the first pages.
FAQ
Is the index checker free?
Yes. A few checks a day are free without signup, up to five keywords each.
Does indexed mean I rank on page one?
No. Indexing only makes the product eligible to appear. Position depends on relevance, sales, price, and availability.
How long does Amazon take to index new keywords?
Usually from a few hours to a few days after the listing update. Amazon does not give a fixed time.
Can I check backend search terms with this tool?
Yes. Enter phrases from your backend search terms field to see whether Amazon picked them up. The field itself is hidden from shoppers, but indexing is visible in search.
Which marketplaces are supported?
Amazon.com (USA), Amazon.co.uk (UK), Amazon.ca (Canada), Amazon.com.mx (Mexico), and Amazon.com.br (Brazil).
